September 2025

NEXT MPRO MEETING

The orchestras next meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 8th at 7pm at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center, 1455 Madison Ave. Redwood City.

CONDUCTORS CORNER

Dear members of the Mid-Peninsula Recorder Orchestra,

The Mid-Peninsula Recorder Orchestra is looking forward to an exciting new season and has planned an ambitious and highly varied program that it will be working on in preparation for its holiday concert in December. The musical selections will range from the 16th to the 20th centuries and include the Concerto for Flautino by Antonio Vivaldi, which contains some of the most brilliant and virtuosic writing for the recorder ever composed. I am happy to let you know that Vinayak Vikram will be returning to the orchestra this season and will be the sopranino recorder soloist on this concerto.

As in past seasons, MPRO meetings will take place at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center, 1455 Madison Avenue at St. Francis St., in Redwood City from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. For those who are located too far to attend in person, I am pleased to announce that this coming seasons meetings will also be streamed via Zoom. Ray White will be sending out invitations to all MPRO members with links to these hybrid Zoom meetings. Please contact him at <rayhwhite@yahoo.com> if you do not receive an invitation.

Listed below is the music for the first three meetings of the orchestras 2025-26 season. Please note that great bass recorders as well as bassoons will be needed at all three meetings, sopranino and contrabass recorders on September 8 and October 6 and krummhorns on October 6. Finally, everyone is asked to practice and become familiar with the scheduled music before the first meeting in September.
