NEXT MPRO MEETING

The orchestras next meeting will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 7:00pm.

CONDUCTORS CORNER

Dear members of the Mid-Peninsula Recorder Orchestra,

Greta Haug-Hryciw will be directing the MPRO meetings on February 12 and 26 in my absence. At the meeting on February 12, Greta will be directing a reading of the opening of the Sibelius Violin Concerto which MPRO member Vinayak Vikram has arranged for solo soprano recorder and recorder orchestra. Vinayak will be playing the very challenging solo part. This will give Vinayak the opportunity to hear his arrangement in live performance and the members of the orchestra the chance to play a work by a well known composer whose music would not usually be available to recorder players. I encourage all MPRO members to attend this meeting and take part in this unique experience. I want to thank Greta for standing in for me while Im gone. I am sure that you will enjoy working with her again and gaining from her expertise.

Listed below is the music for the next four meetings of the orchestra. Please note that sopranino, great bass and contrabass recorders will be needed at all four meetings, bassoon at the meetings on February 12, March 4 and March 18 and krummhorns at the meeting on March 18. Please note as well that these meetings will start at 7:00 P.M. As a reminder for those who are located too far to attend in person, the meetings will also be streamed via Zoom. Ray White will be sending out invitations to all MPRO members with links to the hybrid Zoom meetings. Please contact him at <rayhwhite@yahoo.com> if you do not receive an invitation.
